All About the Horses

We offer guided trail rides and horseback riding lessons here at Ridin-Hy. Explore our 700 acres of scenic trails with confidence—free instruction from our experienced wranglers ensures even beginners feel comfortable in the saddle. Enjoy classic western experiences including old-fashioned rodeos, hayrides, wagon rides, and pony rides for our youngest cowboys and cowgirls!

Riding Requirements & Safety

To ensure both you and our horses stay safe

Walk Lesson (WL)

Ages 5 and up
Beginner lesson riders will learn basic riding, reining, and stopping.
Must fit saddle and have strength to hold on and balance.
In corral

Walk Ride (W)

For ages 7 and up
Must be able to control horse with reins.
Walking ride only

Trot Lesson (TL)

For ages 7 and up
Lesson riders will learn to post when trotting.
Must have prior experience on a horse.
In corral

Trot ride (T)

For ages 8 and up
Must meet requirements of intermediate lesson or have previous experience riding a horse that is trotting.
This ride walks and trots.

Please note that the youth advanced and experienced Rides are for seasoned riders. Guests who ride at home or participate in these rides multiple times a year.

Youth Advanced (YA)

For ages 10 and up
Must have ridden on multiple intermediate trail rides or have previous experience riding a horse that is cantering.
Must be in good physical condition.
This ride walks, trots, and canters.

Experienced Ride (E)

For ages 16 and up
Must have ridden on multiple Youth Advanced rides or have previous experience riding a horse that is more than riding once a year at Ridin-Hy Ranch.
Must be able to mount a horse without assistance.
Must be able to control their horse & maintain proper spacing between horses.
Must be in excellent physical condition.
This ride walks, trots, canters, and gallops.

We are required to follow a height and weight chart for horseback riding. If you happen to fall outside of the chart and think you are physically capable of riding safely, we have a test where you can prove it.
